Met Shannon in 1982 when we moved back to
Abilene and he became our family hair stylist. We enjoyed his friendship and were saddened by his passing. You will be missed but i know you are with our Lord and savior. Bye for now until we meet again.

Shannon was a big part of mine and the Herrera family. He loved to be with us at all the restaurants, and during family time. We all considered him a primo(cousin), nephew and brother. Shannon spent so much time with us, that he was more fluent in Spanish than most of the cousins. He loved to laugh and had a generous heart. I had the pleasure of knowing Shannon most of my life. The stories and adventures we all shared are to many to mention here but I will tell one. For years the three of us would eat out together at least once a week, and all you would hear is joy and laughter. He would tell the waiter we were from Spain and speak nothing but Spanish the whole time. They always believed him and later he would just laugh about it and say we fooled them. It also led to a couple of free desserts over the years. My wife and I did stay in constant contact even when we moved away from Abilene to San Antonio years ago. Shannon would always call or text just to check on us . I will miss you primo, thanks for always being there for me. Love you ,your primos - John and Missy Avila

Shanon was a funny guy who could put a humorous spin on the most mundane and ordinary observations. He was fun loving yet tempered with bouts of anxiety. He loved his Catholic faith, drinks, and food. Shanon was a great cook and often spent holidays in his small kitchen where he concocted the best turkey dressing and cobblers. A robust man with a love of music (especially Latin) he was light on his feet whenever he hit the dance floor. Through the years he had a menagerie of pets: from goats, birds, chickens, cats and dogs, all of which he doted over. He loved working in the hair/beauty industry where he grew a devout clientele and lasting friendships. Thankful to have visited him in Anson on final time. His decades long friendship will be fondly and sorely missed.
