Mary Ramon mother of nine and model of motherhood and Christian living to countless of souls passed into her eternal life on Sunday evening January 17. She was loved immensely and surrounded by loved ones her entire life, especially in her last days when she was never alone. She was born by the grace of God to her parents Victor and Elma Ponce in Coleman Texas on April 14, 1932. They instilled into her heart a spirit of faith and love which she spread to everyone around her during her lifetime. She was raised in San Angelo, Tx with her brothers Jesus, Jose, Victor Jr., and her beloved sister Francis.
She met the love of her life Jesus Prado Ramon Sr. From Abilene, Tx in 1950. They married and he was subsequently drafted by the United States Army and sent to fight in the Korean War. While he was gone she gave birth to their firstborn Jessica(Susie). When he returned they began to raise their family together in Abilene which eventually grew to six girls and three boys. She was an amazing homemaker and mother for many years. In 1979 she began to work in the deli at the local Super Duper grocery store. She continued at that same job until the age of 81 when because of health issues she had to retire. She knew the value of hard work and set the example for all of us. She also put the same effort if not more into her spiritual life. Some of our fondest memories were of her spending her evenings before bedtime reading scripture in bed or praying out loud in the car anytime we made the trip to school or the grocery store. Prayer was a constant for her and she made it a point to pray for everyone in her life. But her faith was not only practiced in prayer but also action. She would never turn anyone away if they were in need. It could be her child, grandchild, or a total stranger, if they needed a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on she treated them as a child of God. You may have had to endure an earful of advice during those times but it was always given with love and in the embrace of a hug.
When she was not working or raising kids or helping anyone that needed it, her favorite thing to do was bingo, and she enjoyed playing with anyone who would go but especially her best friend Lilly Alvarez.
As this is written it’s only been a few hours since she’s passed but she is already so immensely missed that words could never describe how we feel. We thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and memories. And we know that her spirit will live on in every life she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister and her oldest daughter Jessica(Susie)
She leaves a beautiful legacy of faith, love and family through her children and grandchildren which include from oldest to youngest:
Susie Trevino-Max, Martin, Frankie
Frank J. Ramon
Sylvia Martinez- Little Joe, Jessica, Michael, Marissa
Julia Ramon- Ann Marie, Chris, Marcus, Shantel
Angie Ramon- Rudy, Missy
Gloria Araujo(Tony)Lindsey, Victoria
Jesus Ramon Jr.(Connie)- Krista, Asia, Jesus III, JohnLuke, Ave’ Maria, Abigail Marie
Tina Venegas(Tom)-Danielle, Tomas

Also countless great and great-great-grandchildren.

Her viewing and praying of the Rosary will be at North’s funeral home from 6-8 pm Thursday, Jan 21st and a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1 pm, January 22 at St Francis Catholic Church with Fr. Bhaskar Morugudi officiating.

Sending condolences from the Familia of Nestor & Mary Perez Sr. The Ramon Familia was one of the first families we met when we first moved to Abilene from San Angelo. My Father was transferred from Western Auto here. Cookie was a true best friend to Dad and our Moms became great friends as well. I remember playing in the streets until we couldn't see anymore! God bless our Beautiful memories always...I will treasure them always ♡ I love you ALL.
