I was Fred's friend. I feel bad I wasn't a better one, maybe I would have seen this coming. He fought his demons but without success. I know he is well now and hopefully entertaining the angels with a golden guitar. Sing "Alabama" to them for me. Miss you

I am the father of Frederick L. Elsass II. I was notified this morning of his death by a friend who resides in Abilene. I have been expecting this day for a long time. I believe that my son had a tremendous amount of potential and it was all wasted due to
inherited bi-polar disease. I know that this is true because I have suffered from the same for a long time. The only difference is that I did not make the problem worse by abusing alcohol. I once asked him during a period of sobriety why he drank, his response was "one beer is too much and a case is not enough." My heart is broken and I am sure that his mothers heart is broken also. I am glad that he has finally found peace
